The world`s most glamorous film festival has started today in the picturesque seaside city of Cannes on the French Riviera.
The 70th annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held from 17th to 28th May 2017.
For its 70th anniversary, the Festival de Cannes has prepared 12 days of celebrations of all kinds.
From the Opening Ceremony to the awards ceremony on Sunday, May 18th, both emceed by Italian actress Monica Bellucci, the Festival will celebrate its 70th edition by initiating brand new tailor-made events and inviting numerous stars and personalities.
Spanish film director and screenwriter Pedro Almodóvar has been selected as the President of the Jury for the festival. The film “Ismael’s Ghosts” directed by French director Arnaud Desplechin, has been selected as the opening film for the festival.

This year`s official poster of the festival was revealed featuring Italian actress Claudia Cardinale.
Alongside the President of the Jury, Spanish film director and screenwriter Pedro Almodóvar, this year the Jury members include German film director Maren Ade, American actress Jessica Chastain,American actor Will Smith, Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, Italian film director Paolo Sorrentino, French actress and film director Agnès Jaoui, South Korean film director Park Chan-wook and French-Lebanese composer Gabriel Yared.
