The 19th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards were held last night at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, 16th January 2004. The absolute winner of the night was the movie “Gravity” which received seven awards, among them Sandra Bullock won the award for Best Actress in an Action Movie, and director Alfonso Cuaron was named Best Director. The young star of “12 years a Slave”, Lupita Nyong received the awards for Best Supporting Actress.
During the show, actor Forest Whitaker received the Joel Siegel Award for his work with his charity the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative, which helps people affected by violence regardless of age, gender, nationality or faith.
