French fashion designer Roland Mouret presented his new spring/summer 2015 collection at Paris fashion week spring 2015. In anticipation of Roland Mouret’s imminent New York store opening at 952 Madison, the French-born London-based designer returns to the label’s feminine, modern, and seductive aesthetic, with the sentiment of desirability being at the forefront of Mouret’s collection. Bright colour-blocked blouses with contrasting pastel collars, a-line skirts in kelly green alongside cropped trousers in primrose yellow contribute to the collection’s sporty edge, enhanced by sandals in royal purple and watermelon suede, and signature Classico handbags. Mouret plays with the notion of texture by layering raised honeycomb silks and waffle cottons into his signature stretch viscose fabrics, creating depth throughout the spring/summer offering. Boucle pencil skirts are given leverage with handmade linear fringe trim and diagonal paneling in peach, soft pink, black and white. Elsewhere, voluminous circle skirts and relaxed tailoring demonstrated by coats, trousers, and jackets offset structured bodices and strong paneling within Mouret’s iconic silhouettes, lending themselves to an effortlessly modern collection.
Mouret stated: “This collection is dedicated to 952 Madison. I feel I am now at the point where I am the closest with my customer – a sort of synchronicity, and I wanted to create a collection just for her. I want to reinvent the silhouettes she requires, the wardrobe that inspires, and give her the confidence she desires.
