French luxury fashion house Chanel presented their Haute Couture fall/winter 2013-14 collection this morning at the Grand Palais in Paris. Designer Karl Lagerfeld kept the well proved Chanel formula for success – tweed and classical shapes on suits, jackets and skirts. Designer sad that this collection looks at the past to visualize the future and recreate the present.
Sounds complicated? Well of course it does, because Karl said that and there is nothing simple about him. To simplify his message – Karl looks at the future through Chanel eyes. Even the Grand Palais was transformed into a post apocalyptic theater – dirty and messy.
The classical Chanel tweed suit was once again reinvented and this time with the use of sequins, which is quite interesting. Also there was a play with proportions – cropped jackets and tunics combined with leggings and high knee boots, which is certainly a smart move that will have success among the younger women.
