Cannes Film Festival 2016 (Day 3)

The third day of the 69th edition of the International Film Festival of Cannes started with more photocalls, screenings, premieres for the movies “Ma Loute” (Slack Bay) by Bruno Dumont, “I, Daniel Blake” (Moi, Daniel Blake) by Ken Loach, Uchenik (The Student) by Kirill Serebrenniko and La Danseuse (The Dancer) by Stéphanie Di Giusto.

Today scandal has been brewing in the scenic South of France, like seen in the Hollywood movies.

Riza Aziz, the co-founder of Red Granite Pictures and stepson of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, is at the center of embezzlement allegations in light of reports that money from a state investment company was used to purchase lavish properties in New York and Los Angeles. Aziz, whose production company was a major financier on Leonardo DiCaprio‘s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” denies any wrongdoing but according to documents allegedly obtained by the Wall Street Journal, the accusations are damning. Aziz remains in Cannes, according to multiple reports, actively seeking content in the Cannes Film Market.

This is her 15th year attending the Cannes Film Festival.
