American designer Alexander Wang was named as Balenciaga new creative director.
New York based designer Wang will replace Nicolas Ghesquière at the head of french fashion brand. Ghesquière left Balenciaga earlier this month and there had been speculations that Christopher Kane would replace him.
Wang is known for his edgy, somewhat masculine womenswear designs. His label embodies casually cool downtown style, drawing inspiration from the nineties, French chic, and rock grunge—always finished off with a slouchy, rolled-out-of-bed edge. We are quite interested to see what direction Wang will take as the head of Balenciaga brand.
