The 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards – SAG were were presented last nisght, on January 27, 2013, at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, California. SAG Awards have been one of the major awards events in Hollywood since 1995. Nominations for the awards come from 4200 randomly selected members of the union, with the full membership (120,000 as of 2007) available to vote for the winners. Daniel Day-Lewis, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence were among the nominated movie stars but Ben Affleck was the absolute winner last night. Affleck’s movie “Argo” took home the award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Motion Picture.
American actress Jennifer Lawrence won the award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role for her performance in “Silver Linings Playbook” and Day-Lewis won Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role for “Lincoln.” Tommy Lee Jones won the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role for “Lincoln.” Anne Hathaway won the award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role trophy for musical “Les Miserables.”
Alec Baldwin won Outstanding Male Actor in a Lead Role for tv- series “30 Rock” wwile his colleague Tina Fey won the Outstanding Female Actor in a Lead Role for the same series. Tv-series “Modern Family” won the award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Julianne Moore won the award for Outstanding Female Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for playing Sarah Palin in “Game Change.” Kevin Costner was awarded with the Outstanding Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for “Hatfields and McCoys.”
Bryan Cranston won the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series for “Breaking Bad.” After winning the Golden Globe, American actress Claire Danes won the Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series for “Homeland.” Tv-series “Downton Abbey” won the award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series, leaving “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad,” “Homeland” and “Boardwalk Empire” behind.
